Javie & Kermit '24

SANTA CLARITA'S FIRST CAT LOUNGE

One man, one very chatty orange cat.

Catfé started with Javie and Kermit — a Ragdoll from a shelter who meows back like he means it. What began as one adoption became 1.6M followers, four children's books, and Santa Clarita's first cat lounge.

Kermit's Adventures

Every cat from Kitten Rescue LA | The healing power of a good purr

FROM SHELTER TO SPOTLIGHT

How a Ragdoll started a movement.

"I always wanted everyone else to experience adopting a cat — or even just hanging out with one."

n 2015, Javie brought home Kermit — an orange Ragdoll cat adopted from a Mission Hills shelter. What started as a personal step toward healing quickly became something

I

much bigger. Kermit has a gift: he meows back in perfect conversational cadence, responding to Javie's questions and stories like a furry therapist who never judges.

Their bond caught the internet's attention when The Dodo featured their bedtime routine. Millions of views later, @mrkermitmeow has grown to over 1.6 million combined followers across TikTok, Instagram, Threads, and YouTube — and somewhere along the way, the back-of-the-mind dream of a cat lounge became a real plaza spot in Canyon Country.

Catfé is the next chapter of that story. A place where you can experience what Javie experienced ten years ago — what it feels like when a cat decides, at her own pace, that you're alright.

WHAT WE HOLD TO

Three things we don't compromise

Everything else is up for debate — these three are why the door is open in the morning and how we decide things at night.

1

Rescue

Every cat in the lounge comes from Kitten Rescue LA. No breeders, no pressure — just cats waiting for someone like you to walk in.

2

Relax

Spending time with animals heals. We built a quiet room around that idea — booked sessions, soft lighting, and a couch that knows your shape.

3

Repeat

Come once for the cats, come back for the community. Pilates with Cats, craft nights, birthday parties — there's always a reason to return.
